As much as the word spring means cleaning our home, it also means that you need to clean your website. Yes, you read it right; this is a sign that you need to clean up your website. Building and having a website doesn’t end there; you also need to know how to maintain it to keep things up to date.

6 things you can do to clean your website!
I know that cleaning up your website is not on your top priority list right now, but what if you can do it within an hour? Sounds promising, right? Yes, you read it right! Today, I’ll ensure that cleaning up your website is a hassle-free experience that you’ll definitely prioritize!
TIP #1: UPDATE PHOTOS
To fully optimize your websites’ photos, you need to make sure that they possess these 3 things:
#1: Proper Image Size
As your pages take more time to load, the chances are your visitors will leave your site. One thing you can do to decrease load time is thru updating the sizes of your photos. You can compress your files on websites like compressjpeg.com (.png is also an option).
The fantastic thing about this is even if it cuts a chunk of your image’s size, you can still get a high resolution of it.
#2: Proper alt-tag
Alt tags are crucial for accessibility and search engine optimization. If an image fails to load, the alt tag provides a text description, improving your site's usability and SEO. Furthermore, ensuring your images are correctly tagged is a sign of professionalism and attention to detail.
#3: Proper file type
Certain file types have the corresponding purpose like these three:
JPEG: This file format is suitable for all forms of photographs.
PNG: This format is ideal for screenshots and other images that don't have many colors.
GIF: This is the best picture format to use if you want to show off animated graphics on your website.
TIP #2:
CHECK ON YOUR “YOUR SERVICES” PAGE
If you’ve been running your website for a while now, the chances are you grew your business, and you’ve probably started something new.
Ask yourself: Have your services changed? Need price altering? Something you don’t really do anymore? Something you’d like to try out?
If you answered yes to one of my questions, this is the perfect time to update your “your services” page.
Tip #3:
UPDATE YOUR PORTFOLIO WITH CURRENT WORK OR WORK YOU WANT TO DO MORE OF
It’s always great to update your portfolio from time to time!
Besides putting up your testimonials page, it’s also good to showcase your current and past works with your clients. In that way, you can build connections with your potential clients. Of course, it’s not enough to have a portfolio page; you also need to update it consistently.
Remember, fresh ideas and concepts always attract your customers.
PRO TIP: Updating your portfolio is as important as updating your testimonial page. Let all your visitors know your clients are happy and successful with your services.

Tip #4:
CHECK UP YOUR BLOG
Do you have any blog posts that perform better than others? Don’t delete it yet; you definitely could repurpose its content!
As much as the world is changing, like technology dominates the economy, Apple continuously develops various iPhone models.
Indeed, Squarespace goes from version 7.0 to 7.1. This means the content of your blog also changes.
Yearly, I have a dedicated time to check up on all the content of my blog to see if it’s up-to-date and follows the trend. With this, I can know how my blog posts perform and plan another strategy for those that don't perform well. You can promote them better or showcase them somewhere on your website!

EVALUATE YOUR SEO
Do you have any new images that need an alt tag? The meta description on a blog post or two?
Earlier I talked about why having a proper alt tag is needed in images. Alt tags greatly help your SEO since it gives search engine crawlers meaning for what a picture shows, allowing them to properly search the image.
On the flip side, for the benefit of users and search engines, a meta description is a feature that defines and summarizes the contents of your website. Meta description greatly helps boost traffic to your website.
Tip #6:
UPDATE THE TAGS ON YOUR BLOG POSTS
Think of this scenario when a visitor loves reading blogs and comes across your website, and you have TONS of blogs.
You can help them not to be overwhelmed by the use of tags. Using tags allow you to organize your blogs by topic, and they can identify your niche.
By this, your readers can quickly find what they are interested in.
I suggest that these tags should be visible in your navigation bar or on the homepage of your blog.
You can also organize certain tags in the backend to make the correct articles appear in the proper subjects.
