5 Reasons Why you need an Instagram “Link in bio” page + How to create one in Squarespace!

Welcome to another episode of my Squarespace Tutorials, where I share my never-before-seen tips and tricks in building and maintaining your website. I really love to maximize the potential of each feature I know to save time and money! Today, I’ll share my experience with Instagram marketing with you, specifically how I optimize my “Link in bio” page.

EVER WONDERED HOW THOSE INSTAGRAM CAPTIONS WITH “LINK IN BIO” means?

Okay, so first, what does “Link in bio” mean on Instagram? Mainly, it is the clickable URL that you can place in your Instagram profile. The main goal of instagram bio page is to take your followers to various pages like your website, youtube channel, blog post link, or shop.

Usually, people use LinkTree, LinkBio, or even Canva to compile their preferred landing pages. Also, I encountered people recommending creating a photo in Canva with links; however, it’s a big no-no! That would send traffic to Canva, not to your site (Oh no!). It’s better if the traffic of your instagram bio link goes directly to your site; trust me, our friend SEO will love you!

5 Reasons Why you need an Instagram “Link in Bio” Page

REASON #1:

WEBSITE AWARENESS + HYPING UP YOUR BLOG POSTS

Website awareness is the most common reason why Instagram users use this Instagram Bio Link pages. Truthfully, your followers might check their Instagram more than they check your website; thus, you can serve their plates by adding shortcuts of your website links.

You can use this feature to guide customers to your homepage, FAQ page, or blog. You may also provide links to any freebies or other opportunities for your followers to conveniently sign up for your email list. It’s also a good thing that all the traffic will go to your website, not to other link list generators.

PRO TIP: You can post the links to your latest blog posts for your followers to catch up to your blog.

REASON #2:

MARKETING BEST FRIEND!

I’m telling you, influencers love Instagram bio link! As online shopping dominates the sales today, influencers took this chance to post the links of their affiliate brands and recommendations to market them to their followers. Trust me, I’ve watched lots of products being sold out just by a recommendation of an influencer.

PRO TIP: You can include many links (even unlimited links!) to promote your goodies!

REASON #3:

CROSS-PROMOTION OF YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA

Having a Link in bio page allows you to organize the links of your other platforms. Remember, someone following you on Instagram does not necessarily mean following you on any of your other social media. Link in bio is a great way to promote your content across platforms.

PRO TIP: Many people get popular in TikTok in a snap, but that doesn’t mean they know your Instagram and Youtube accounts. One trick is to entice your followers by posting a teaser of your TikTok videos to your bio link and encourage them to follow you.

REASON #4:

PRODUCTS/SERVICE PROMOTION

If you own an online shop like Shopify, you can include the links of your products on your bio link to promote product awareness. Of course, it’s also good to include the links if you offer any services.

PRO TIP: You can set up your Instagram shoppable posts to make your followers hop in your Instagram account.

REASON #5:

FUNDRAISING CONSCIOUSNESS

For me, this is the best way to use your Link in Bio page. Suppose your passion is to help non-profit organizations like charities. In that case, this is the best way to make information accessible to your followers. Most significantly, if you support lots of fundraisers, you can easily organize them into a page for your followers not to get lost in it. Also, note that not everyone has the capability to donate, but most can sign petitions.

STEP #4: CUSTOMIZE THE LENGTH OF YOUR BUTTON.

It is definitely optional, but you can customize your buttons and make them equal in length even if they have varying amounts of words. Tweak them by following my simple CSS trick.

CODE:

#collection-5c9387a7c83025f04d0414d0 {

.sqs-block-button .sqs-block-button-element {

width: 200px !important;

}}

  • Go to Design > Site Styles > Custom CSS

  • Copy and paste the code above.

  • Replace the “#collection-” ID with the ID of your webpage.

  • Don’t know your ID? Find it here:

    • Pop a new window of your website.

    • Right-click anywhere on your page > Inspect/View Source

    • Lots of code will appear, but donut panic! Breath in and breath out, then click Command + F > Search for “<body”

    • From there, a sequence of numbers will pop like this:
      “id=”collection-8fd993689b64832a4a9d844c"”

    • Replace the code above, and remember to pop the hashtag (#) before it!

      You can also use the Squarespace Collection/Block Identifier Chrome extension!
